Croajingolong National Park

Croajingolong National Park gets its name from the Krauatungalung words for "east" and "belonging to." Located east of Melbourne in the coastal East Gippsland region, the park is a treasure chest of natural abundance and a phenomenal topography. The park earned a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve nomination in 1977 for protecting around 1,000 native plant and 315 animal species. The park's eastern sides have been designated as an important bird area by BirdLife International for being a shelter to pilotbirds and eastern bristlebirds. Attractions at Croajingolong National Park include the lighthouse at Point Hicks, sand dunes at the Thurra River, and camping sites at Wingan Inlet and Peachtree Creek. Other campsites are also available, and recreation opportunities include nature walks, snorkeling, scuba diving, sea kayaking.
