Monte Rosa Ski

by dsearls

"The Ski Giant"

This skiing area goes from the Valdostana Val d'Ayas to the Piedmontese Val Sesia, including the Rosa massif and through the Valle di Gressoney. There are three parallel skiing areas, united by a skiable domaine of more than 200 kilometers of tracks with 89 canons for artificial snowfall. As for the Valdostana slope, the Valle di Gressoney is reached from Pont Saint Martin and there are 56 slopes with 42 chairlifts, that can welcome up to 40,000 people (the highest capacity in the Valle D'Aosta). There are also slopes with technical difficulties for more advanced skiers. The Miniera ski tow leads to the part of the area where most of the slopes area. There are two 'red' kilometers (average difficulty) in the Grand Valoy and Fontaney, another red area which leads to the long ski tow of Antagnod. From Crest, the chairlift goes to Ostafa and then to Sarezza at a height of 2,700. Do not miss skiing in the slalom stadium which is dedicated to the unforgettable local champion Leo David.
