"Enchanting Square in the City"

This is perhaps the most original of the many squares in the city. It faces the small church from which it takes its name, and which is characterized by a large cross, symbol of passion and a fusion of medieval and Baroque elements. On the side is the Santa Croce Gate, one of the urban gates, or doors of the city. There is a lovely view from here. Left of the square is Via di Santa Chiara with the Church of Santa Chiara. Built in the 18th Century on an 8th-century church, it has a single nave with lateral altars adorned with paintings.
