Fonte dell'Acquaventina

"Called Ventina Virium"

This can be found by taking Viale San Francesco. Vitruvio called it Ventina Virium as did all the Romans who came to Penne to be cured from digestive problems and skin diseases by this prodigious water. In the 19th Century, the cistern was located that gathered all the waters from the sources in the area, and a brick, circular fountain was built around the pre-existing fountain. It was abandoned in the war years and polluted by impure waters from local houses. It now gushes out from two stone flowers.
