"Former Lime Industry"

Lime's use in construction was very important to the island until 1970. In fact, in Fuerteventura there are more than 165 lime furnaces altogether. You can tour one such plant and view its three lime furnaces, a warehouse, workers' quarters and well. The first of the three furnaces is distinguished by its three openings and is the only one of its kind in the Canary Islands. The second is the oldest and has two openings, and the third one is the smallest. The living quarters comprise of three rooms and storage space. Admission is free.
