Íslenska Kristskirkjan

by pixel2013

"Lutheran Free Church"

The Íslenska Kristskirkjan belongs to a group of people who used to belong to the Lutheran state church, but at a certain time (1997 to be exact) founded their own church. They claim the reason for leaving the state church is religious. Most followers of the state church are not enthusiastic enough for their taste. The congregation started as a 60-strong splinter group, which now has grown to have around 170 members. The congregation does not own a church, but rents a place in an industrial part of Reykjavík.
