"Truly Magnificent"

Dating back to the 13th Century, Ringebu Stave Church is one of Norway's 28 such churches to still survive. In the year 1630, this medieval stave church was remodeled as a cruciform place of worship by Werner Olsen, a celebrated architect. The striking red tower was added in the year 1631. Of the original structure, only its nave exists. Several archaeological excavations were carried out on the church site. Nearly 900 ancient coins were discovered and most of these belonged to the medieval era.
