Chaplin's World

Set in the manoir where he breathed his last, Chaplin's World is a museum dedicated entirely to the legendary comedian, Charlie Chaplin. This charming museum gives an insight deep into the comedian's personal as well as his professional life. The museum is divided into three sections, the world-class studio, the lush green park and the splendid manor. Within the studio, you will find yourself surrounded by model sets from some of his well-known films, wax statues of the legend and his co-stars, and audiovisuals that trace his journey from a nobody to one of the most talented actors, writers and filmmakers. Lucens Castle

Lucens Castle is a beautiful and grand historic structure, located on a hill top and over looking the countryside town of Lucens. Built around the 16th Century, the castle served a residential place for kings and nobility, a fortress, a girls institution before being sold to a private party. Today, it functions as a luxury event venue with weddings, dinners, parties, meetings and conferences regularly hosted here. 10 rooms for accommodation are available as well.

Olympic Museum

Charming public gardens, planted with exotic trees and shrubs and displaying bronze statues, lead you up to the museum. Once at the top, one can see the modern building is truly inspired by a Greek temple with its white marble façade. Two rows of white columns at the entrance carry the names of the towns that have hosted the Olympic games and the Olympic flame burns in an ornamental granite bowl illustrating the myth of Prometheus. The exhibition leads you through the history of the Olympic games, starting with Ancient Greece. There are beautifully preserved terracotta figures, gold laurel wreathes and marble sculptures to see. On display are all the torches that have been carried in every event since 1936 and a great collection of stamps, coins and medals bearing images of the Olympics. Huge video screens and stereo sound help the viewer to experience a part of the apprehension, excitement and concentration, the athlete encounters before an event.

Sauvabelin Forest

Sauvabelin Forest is a suburban park where Lausanne locals have come for Sunday strolls and afternoon walks in a soothing natural setting for more than a century. Walks lead past the River Flon, the picturesque Bois de Sauvabelin, and the ruins of a former Swiss village. The true highlights of the forest are the Lac du Sauvabelin, an artificial lake built in the late 19th century, and the Sauvebelin Tower, an interesting wooden structure nine stories tall with beautiful views of the surrounding region. Visitors often take picnics on landscaped grounds, row boats on the lake in the warmer months, and take children to see Swiss-native farm animals. Legend has it that the late and great David Bowie owned a home on the forest grounds.

Nyon Castle

Throughout its history, Nyon Castle has been used for many purposes. Originally an administrative building in the House of Savoy, it has since been a courthouse, prison, and now a beautiful museum that offers visitors a little bit of everything from history to portraiture to a permanent exhibition of fine Swiss porcelain that was created in the municipality of Nyon between 1781 and 1813. Completely restored as of 2006, visitors can view the entire building floor-by-floor, beginning in the basement then working their way up, passing old prison cells, as well as wonderful art and architecture along the way.

Lake Neuchâtel

Formed from the remnants of an ancient glacial lake, Lake Neuchâtel is located in the French-speaking region of Romandy in western Switzerland. Delightfully skirted by lush forests and rolling hills, this clear lake is one of Switzerland's most prized possessions. It has a surface area of 218.3 square kilometers (84.3 square miles), making it the largest lake in the country and the 59th largest in Europe.
