"Serene Sanctuary"
Santi Dodici Apostoli is a Roman Catholic parish church and minor basilica that dates back to the 6th century. Built in celebration of the Narses victory over the Ostrogoths, the church was originally dedicated St. James and St. Philip, but later came to known as the church of the 12 apostles. Santi Apostoli is widely known for its fabulous interior layout and structure, which features Corinthian pillars, the tombs of Count Giraud de Caprières and Cardinal Raffaele Riari and a baroque style ceiling. The church is also peppered by some remarkable paintings and frescoes by Baciccio, Luigi Fontana and Mino da Fiesole.
