"Tomb of Saint Peter?"

Saint Peter's tomb is found to the west of the mausoleum complex and it dates back to the years between 130 CE and 300 CE. Located beneath the majestic St. Peter's Basilica, the tomb contains many graves. According to Vatican officials, the tomb was erected as a memorial for St. Peter's catacomb. In the grave claimed to be that of St. Peter, remains of farm animals and human beings were also discovered. However, in 1950, Pope Pius XII declared that there is no substantial evidence to prove that the tomb is the burial site of Saint Peter.
