The Espaço Cultura Casa da Mãe (roughly translated as Mom's Cultural Space House) is exactly that, a space where everyone can come together and perform what is known as a Sarau here in Brazil. A sarau is an event that involves music, singing, poetry, acting, literature and sometimes the popular martial art, Capoeira. However, not all cultural pursuits are pursued at once; on certain nights here you will find solely live music, painters or just a spoken-word artist in the corner.
