Austrian meals, prepared following old, traditional recipes, are extremely hard to find in Salzburg these days. Often restaurants advertising with these kinds of slogans turn out to be real tourist traps. But in the "Zum Fidelen Affen," (which translates to "At the Jolly Monkey"), this is not the case. Over the years, the restaurant on a side street of the Linzergasse has become highly acclaimed among Salzburg inhabitants. Everything that is Austrian, you can find on the menu, from good old roast pork to the well-known Wiener Schnitzel, best enjoyed with a cool pint of beer. And all this is served quickly and is of very good quality. As Austrians would say, "Mahlzeit!" ("Enjoy your meal!")
Together with the Müllner Bräustübl and the StieglKeller, this is one of the most popular beer gardens in town, especially for those with a penchant for Weissbier (white beer). In the summer months plenty of people drop by for an after-work drink and a bite to eat (goulash with noodles is especially popular). Groups should book in advance, and can even visit the historic "Small Brewery" by appointment.

The restaurant has quite an elaborate breakfast menu, with several contemporary dishes thrown in. The ambiance and decor of the place is calm and relaxed, with a delightful outdoor seating area.
