HMS Surprise is a replica that pays tribute to Rose, a war-ship that is now a part of the Maritime Museum of San Diego. This ship also featured in movies like Pirates of the Caribbean and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.
Centennial Park is one of the best attractions that the city of Coronado has on offer. Overlooking the San Diego Bay, the park further delights visitors with a breathtaking view of the San Diego skyline. Defined with neatly manicured grass and lined with flower beds, the park itself is a visual delight during the day. As evening sets in, the place is abuzz with tourists and locals, and the twinkling skyline adds to the fervor.
Set in Coronado Naval Amphibious Base, Gator Beach offers stunning views of the North Pacific Ocean. Though this beach is open to public, it is mostly frequented by defense personnel and their families. This clean sandy beach is lined with restaurants and cafés. Along with BBQ areas, they also offer facilities to play volleyball and other beach games.
Set in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, Mormon Battalion Historic Site dates back to the mid-19th century. This historic site is dedicated to the Mormon Battalion who served the United States Army. This site features an old courthouse and several wells that were used in the past. In addition to this, the site is also home to a visitor center that gives us a peek into the history of this site.
