The University of San Francisco (USF) was founded in 1855 and is one of the oldest institutions for higher learning. USF covers an area of 55 acres and is situated on a hilltop. Known for its public service, it has over 8,500 students from 75 countries. It's recognized nationally for its graduate programs in law, nursing, business and environmental management. The campus of the university also has a Saint Ignatius Church, this church serves as the university's chapel. After the university celebrated its diamond jubilee in 1930 the university which was before known as the Saint Ignatius College came to be known as the University of San Francisco.
