"An Unfinished Dream"

Built in honor of Dr Benjamin Lyford, the Stone Tower was to function as a gateway to his utopian village, Hygeia, the city of health. However, this Victorian-era tower that overlooks the Angel Islands, never got to serve its purpose. When the streets were widened in the later years, the gateway portion of the tower was removed. Situated in the city of Tiburon, and constructed by architect Gustav A. Behrnd, this tower is open for public visits.
