Credited to Shinshichi Nakatani, the Drum Bridge, also referred to as Taiko Bashi is a pedestrian bridge dating back to 1894. Also called the Moon Bridge, the highly arched structure which is semi-circular in shape forms a full circle in the water reflection.
Angel Island State Park is dotted with a number of military batteries, Battery Ledyard is one of them. Made of reinforced concrete, this coastal gun is stationed on Fort McDowell. It's name commemorates 1st Lt. August C. Ledyard. Constructed in 1900, the gun was used for 15 years before it was deactivated. Today, it is one of the highlights of the state park and also makes for a great lookout point.
