To enter this iconic San Francisco restaurant, you need a healthy appetite for meat! The interior boasts several dining rooms, a bar and cocktail lounge, and a fireplace, making it feel like an exclusive clubhouse. The owner, Joe Betz, is known for redecorating the establishment every so often. Chunks of aged and perfectly seasoned prime rib are sliced table-side and served with a variety of side dishes (the most popular being creamed spinach and potatoes). A daily fish special is also offered at House of Prime Rib for those who want something light.

This churrascaria, or Brazilian steakhouse, serves food Rodizio style; continually presenting different cuts of meat until the patrons are finished eating. The word espetus means skewer - which is inspired by the cooking techniques of Brazilian Gauchos in the 1800s. The meats are sliced at the table and include options like pork sausages, slow-roasted Brazilian herb chicken, and top sirloin. They also have an extensive salad bar with traditional Brazilian side dishes. The meals are served all-you-can-eat style; just turn the chip on your table to the green side to be served, and to the red side when you are done.

Alexander's Steakhouse is a modern carnivore's temple located in the vibrant SoMa district of San Francisco. They feature some of America's favorite cuts such as Porterhouse, T-Bone, New York Strip and the house specialty - Angus Beef. Other in-house dry-aged steaks include the Wagyu, procured from Australia and five Japanese prefectures. Chef Mark Zimmerman presents a diverse menu that not only has classic favorites but also Japanese delicacies alongside chef's own creations like the caviar parfait. Fine desserts and wines elevate the whole dining experience. The modern setting and impeccable service combine to create an upscale yet elegant ambiance, perfect for the meaty affair.

Filet mignon, double-cut chops, prime rib and all the other favorites are on the menu at Harris' elegant steakhouse. The menu features every steak variation as well as a couple of chicken and lamb entrees. Each expertly prepared entree comes with vegetable and potato side dishes. The service is excellent for the upscale crowd here. Often there is live jazz in the main room, adding to the already warm ambiance.

5A5 is San Francisco's first steak lounge. This swanky establishment serves a delicious menu that offers a contemporary take on meat and potatoes. The steaks are tender and cooked to perfection, and the Wagyu steak is the restaurant's pride and joy. The meat is imported all the way from Japan and is considered the highest quality in the world. The menu also proposes a number of vegetarian options as well as an impressive wine list. Also worth mentioning are the Hamachi shooters, the Kobe beef sliders and the truffle fries.

Izzy Gomez's story typifies that of living the American dream. The Portuguese native headed to San Francisco with nothing but passion, and in 1987, Izzy's Steaks & Chops opened its doors in the heart of Marina neighborhood on the birthday of the man himself. Steak is the main draw here, although there are excellent seafood and chops made from market-fresh ingredients. Their bar prides itself on creative concoctions and an impressive list of spirits. This restaurant has much of a traditional boys club feel to it. With dim lighting, no-nonsense service and lacquered fish among lots of San Francisco memorabilia donning the walls, this is a quintessential example of an American steakhouse and promises an unrivaled experience in the Bay Area. It also claims that many times artists have bartered one of their paintings for the sake of a meal here. Today, these artworks are part and parcel of the eatery's decor. Now, what would you trade for dinner?
