"Oldest in City"
Built in 1870 according to Antonio Cortázar's design, this bridge is the oldest in the city. It is neoclassical in style, made of concrete and with masonry vaults. It stands out for the varied color given to it by the different kinds of materials used in its construction. It originally consisted of five arches or "eyes," but with the channeling of Urumea river for the Paseo de Francia promenade, it lost one. It has since undergone major reforms and extensions, though these have always respected the original composition.
