Etxe Kalte

This little bar tucked away in the Parte Vieja is part jazz club part discoteca. Most weekend nights, the bar invites either jazz performers or a well-known DJ to spin in the dance room downstairs. Upstairs is a small bar with seating, where the music is more low-key and people can sit and chat. The two different atmospheres are what makes this bar different and very popular: on weekend nights, or any night in the popular summer season, this bar is packed to the gills with both locals and tourists looking for a change from the house music that is played nearly everywhere else.

Borda Berri

An old-school restaurant in Gipuzkoa, Borda Berri treats you to a scintillating variety of local favorites. While it might not seem like much from the outside, step inside and this place is buzzing with excitement. Frequented by locals and tourists alike, this is one of the best spots in town for a good old-fashioned Tapas. Not to be missed are the signature Euskal Pork Ribs, Veal Cheeks and Roasted Duck Breast, all of which are crafted using fresh locally sourced ingredients. While one would expect the food to leave an impression, it's the drinks that surprise you. Its collection of imported spirits, wines and beers are certain to make any drinking session last for more than a single round.

Bar Haizea

Since its inception, Bar Haizea has been the neighborhood's go-to place for a relaxed round of drinks and a light meal. Situated at the heart of the historic district, its old-school vibes, coupled with its lively atmosphere makes it perfect for a casual meal and drinks with friends. Best known for their tapas, and Basque-style dishes, this is one of the best spots for a no-frills, local-inspired meal. At the bar, one can take their pick from their collection of imported spirits, wines, and beers, or from their signature mixed drinks.

Atari Gastroteka

Nestled within the heart of the historic town center, Atari Gastroteka offers diners a taste of the Spanish culinary tradition through a selection of delicious pintxos. While San Sebastian is replete with pintxo bars, few offer gin & tonic and foie gras that can match the quality and exquisite taste of that which is offered here. The bar itself is simple, and charming, with a lovely outdoor area that offers spellbinding views of the Santa Maria church. While the foie gras on raisin toast is a definite must, delectable options like the goat cheese and walnut salad, Potato Bravas, house cured salmon and beef cheeks are quite popular as well.

Dabadaba

Dabadaba is a popular dive bar and concert venue. This hidden gem is a local favorite and is off the tourist radar. This affable space is a nice spot to enjoy your drinks and cool tunes by touring domestic and international musicians. Some of the previous listings are The Drones, Thee Blind Crows, Blank Realm, La Luz and Microcosmos.

La Madame

La Madame is a popular little Spanish restaurant located in the center of San Sebastian. La Madame is known for its delicious weekend brunches with a menu that features authentic Spanish chicken, beef, pork, and seafood preparations along with delicious burgers, dumplings, churros, huevos rancheros, lobster rolls, and nigiri. Their menu is extensive and has something to suit every palate. A full bar that serves refreshing and unique cocktails and fine wines is the perfect accompaniment to your meal. The service is friendly and welcoming and the food is reasonably priced making this spot a must visit when in the city.
