This is one of those classic bars you fall in love with, and is just a 10-minute walk from the town center. You should try to pop by around 8p to taste some of the delicacies along with a good Spanish wine or a txakoli (Basque white wine). The specialties are excellent, masterfully prepared pintxos (tapas). We highly recommend one called txopito, a small cuttlefish with onion that is traditional in Basque cuisine. This bar has won many awards for their expertise in seafood dishes. Service is excellent.
This is a totally renovated typical old local tavern that serves excellent traditional Basque cuisine prepared by a talented young kitchen team. The house special is cod, and theirs is some of the best around. The three-course sampler menu offers quality and variety. You can choose from a range of eight different starters, ten main courses and five delicious desserts.
An old-school restaurant in Gipuzkoa, Borda Berri treats you to a scintillating variety of local favorites. While it might not seem like much from the outside, step inside and this place is buzzing with excitement. Frequented by locals and tourists alike, this is one of the best spots in town for a good old-fashioned Tapas. Not to be missed are the signature Euskal Pork Ribs, Veal Cheeks and Roasted Duck Breast, all of which are crafted using fresh locally sourced ingredients. While one would expect the food to leave an impression, it's the drinks that surprise you. This is a safe and satisfying restaurant that's conveniently located in the center of town. You'll not find any great surprises here, just your favorite traditional dishes produced with the finest fresh ingredients in the way they have always been. Try any of the house specials, like tossed marinated anchovy salad, or the squid with green peppers. Or, you may opt for something more contemporary like duck sweetbreads with grilled foie gras and pigs' trotters.
This is probably the smallest place to eat in the San Sebastian area, with three tables between the bar and the kitchen, where two or three young but experienced cooks work in plain sight of customers. As is to be expected, their specialties are also on a small scale. They do delicious tapas, which are also served at the bar, such as marinated anchovies; cannelloni with black pudding, garlic and oil; and, squid stuffed with spring onions. They also serve dishes based on traditional recipes, but with modern touches such as cod with chilies and garlic, roast meat with dried fruit, roast duck breast and rice pudding with cinnamon.
Nestled within the heart of the historic town center, Atari Gastroteka offers diners a taste of the Spanish culinary tradition through a selection of delicious pintxos. While San Sebastian is replete with pintxo bars, few offer gin & tonic and foie gras that can match the quality and exquisite taste of that which is offered here. The bar itself is simple, and charming, with a lovely outdoor area that offers spellbinding views of the Santa Maria church. While the foie gras on raisin toast is a definite must, delectable options like the goat cheese and walnut salad, Potato Bravas, house cured salmon and beef cheeks are quite popular as well.

The food menu comprises of rich French delicacies like Foie Gras, Baked dishes and assorted cheese variants. Enjoy your toothsome meal, a la francaise, by the charming poolside garden located at the back of the restaurant.
