Mount Roraima

The Pakaraima Mountains' highest peak, Mount Roraima is wreathed in dense fog. The tabletop mountain's sheer cliffs on all sides creates the illusion that it is suspended in space, floating above the clouds. This fascinating geological structure is veiled in myths and legends and is said to have inspired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 'The Lost World'. According to one Venezuelan legend, Mount Roraima was a massive tree stump where all the world's fruits and vegetables grew. Largely uninhabited, the mountaintop or tepui is home to unique species of plant and animal life found nowhere else on the planet. Over centuries, explorers have climbed the peak in search of the unknown and today, adventurous travelers make the trek for some of the most spellbinding vistas on Earth.
