La Bombi

This restaurant, an important reference point in terms of regional cuisine in Santander and with many years of experience, is one of the most famous in Santander. The chef prepares delicious dishes that will please even the most distinguished taste buds. Meat and fish are the restaurant's forte. The most noteworthy dishes are the sirloin or T-bone steak among red meats, and the gilthead or the cabracho (variety of hogfish). The shellfish, reared in the restaurant's own tanks, are also of high quality. They have a fine selection of wines, with the perfect one to accompany your meal. The simple and rustic-style dining area can hold 80 people. There is also valet parking available.

Del Puerto

Delicious dishes, unbeatable service, fantastic quality and knowhow have made this restaurant one of the most famous in Santander. Try the various lobster dishes and the T-bone steak accompanied by a fine wine from the excellent range on offer. It's opposite the marina and has views of the bay. Chef Antonio Núñez prepares traditional regional dishes, with one exception only Madrid-style tripe (callos).

Cañadío

The restaurant is situated next to Plaza de Cañadio, hence its name, and it has become a weekend meeting point for many young people in the city. This restaurant is regarded as one of Santander's classics. With over ten years of experience and much hard work, it has become an ideal place to dine or just have a small bite to eat. There is a nice choice of meat or fish (hake, grouper and turbot) from the à la carte menu and from its extensive tapas menu, the tripe and sweetbreads are a good choice. All the dishes are examples of top-quality traditional cuisine. There is also good wine to accompany your meal.

Bodega Cigaleña

After a lot of hard work and hands-on experience, this restaurant has become a must for those wanting to taste good regional cuisine. Their delicious traditional stews will remind you of good old-fashioned food. Their special hor d'oeuvres, cigaleña hake with mushrooms, ham and cheese or the large T-bone steak are other excellent choices. If you also order one of their magnificent wines, you'll be able to enjoy a great meal. There is a fine collection of wine displayed on the walls.

La Mulata

Situated in the heart of Puerto Chico (Small Port), you can either go to the bar, which is always busy, or the lively dining area. Surrounded by dazzling blue walls, you can try any one of this restaurant's specialties of local fish or shellfish, reared in the restaurant's own tanks. Items can be grilled, baked, boiled or fried all complemented by a good wine to satisfy the most demanding taste buds. If you have an important event to celebrate, there's nothing better than a mixed seafood platter. Curiously, the restaurant owes it's name to a black species of crab found in local waters, called mulata, one of the few crustaceans which are not edible.
