Believed to have been birthed some hundreds of millions of years ago, Vietnam's Fansipan Mountain is a towering peak, also famous as the loftiest summit of Indochina, which spans Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. Standing tall at 3,143 meters (10,312 feet), this mighty peak proudly looks over the picturesque, northwestern expanses of the country. Also popular as the 'Roof of Indochina', Fansipan is one among a handful of ecotourism destinations of the country. A part of the Hoàng Liên National Park, the mountain is enclosed within vibrant swathes of blooming azaleas and rhododendrons, along with other floral species. Set against varied contours and gradations, it often poses a tough challenge to hikers and climbers, hence being a feat which is achievable only by the intrepid adventurer. Crowned by a gleaming, metal pyramid which serves as the marker of the summit, this imposing massif is also a safe haven for a multitude of wildlife.
