Lindau Lighthouse dates back to 1853 and is a marvelous lighthouse located on Lake Constance. It has spectacular architecture and is open to public. The lighthouse provides breathtaking panorama of the surrounding region, and hence, is well known for photography. The clock embedded in its facade is one of the most remarkable features of the attraction. Located in close proximity to the lighthouse is the striking sculpture of a lion, popularly termed the 'Bavarian Lion'. Together, these two landmarks form a stunning backdrop for the Lindau harbor, considered one of the best harbor entrances on the lake.
A ravine steeped in history, Rappenlochschlucht is one of the larges gorges in the continent. A walk through Rappenlochschlucht provides the perfect opportunity to take in the beautiful surroundings dotted with waterfalls, rocky hills, waterfalls, as well as, flora and fauna. This gorge connects Dornbirn with the village of Ebnit.
Located in Dornbirn, Karren is a famous landmark in the area. The mountain peak offers a panoramic view of the surrounding areas of the Rhine Valley and the Austrian-Germany border, making for a memorable experience for visitors. It can be accessed easily via a cable car that reaches the top. The ride in the cable car is also an unforgettable experience. FLATZ Museum is a contemporary art museum that exhibits artworks of the artist, Wolfgang Flatz. The exhibits include the artist’s artworks between the year 1975 to 1999. They conduct exhibitions two to three times a year and showcase works done by international artists as well. FLATZ Museum organizes lectures, discussions and even lends their exhibits to other exhibition centers and museums as well.
Aussichtsturm Friedrichshafen, also known as Moleturm, is a big watch tower which offers panoramic views of Lake Constance as well as the city of Friedrichshafen. The best is, the admission is free and its a great place to take amazing pictures and up your social media game.
Located by Lake Constance at Staad, Market Hall Altenrhein, or locally known as Markthalle Altenrhein is one of the most marvelous architectural projects in Saint Gallen. Conceptualized by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, the features of the buildings include gilded golden onion shaped towers, bright and vibrant colors, uneven floors and windows, shady walkways, colorful ceramic pillars and green roofs. Hundertwasser wanted to create a place free of monotony by eliminating uniformity, anonymity and sterility. In the premises you shall find a bistro that serves good snacks and meals, a gallery that features Hundertwasser's graphic works (posters, postcards, prints, calendars,etc.) and a store too.
Reptilienzoo Scheidegg is home to a wide variety of reptilian species such as Horned Viper, White-Lipped Lance Viper, Greek and Moorish Turtles and Collared Lizard, among many others. Other than these cold-blooded wonders of nature, one can also find plenty of interesting spiders and scorpion varieties in the facility. Crocodiles have also become a part of this unique zoo, adding a layer of fascination to the whole place.
The waterfalls at Gretenmühle in Rickenbach are definitely a worthwhile destination. Located in the middle of a nature reserve, this is truly a natural spectacle. There are viewing platforms to take in the panoramic sight, while the little ones will be delighted with the playground and an animal enclosure.
Located in Lindenberg im Allgäu, Deutsches Hutmuseum Lindenberg focuses on the cultural history of hats. The permanent exhibition features several kinds of headgear dating back to 300 years. Located in a former hat factory, the museum has an expansive 1000 square meter (10763 square feet) exhibition area where history of the city, hat making and hats as a fashion statement are the focus. A unique museum as such is definitely worth a visit when in town.
