"Fish Ladder and Locks"

The Ballard Locks is a popular spot among the tourists and locals in Seattle. The locks link the Puget Sound with Lake Union and Lake Washington. Built-in 1917, this allows the boats to move from one side to the other, mixing up fresh and saltwater. There is also a fish ladder built here which allows the fish to head upstream during spawning season. Fishes like Salmon can be seen on their way upstream. The visitor's area allows people to get a look at all this. The best time to visit is the summer months.
