Red Mill Burgers

Red Robin isn't the only place to get gourmet burgers in the Pacific Northwest. This similarly named burger joint has been voted "Best Burger" by the readers of the Seattle Weekly. The reasons are obvious, big juicy patties, fresh buns and crisp lettuce, not to mention fair prices. At this chic Red Mill Burgers joint, try the rich Bacon Deluxe with Cheese, the Veggie Burger or the Chicken Burger. The thick milkshakes and malts are nothing to sneer at either.

Elliott Bay Brewery Pub

A series of brewers have tried their luck with this West Seattle Junction location. This latest opened here in 1997 and attempts to broaden its appeal by catering to families and hip urbanites. The decor favors brass, and the smoking section's location upstairs with the pool tables keeps the air fresher downstairs. The pub has 10 beers on tap, six brewed onsite. There's also root beer on tap for the kids. Burgers and sandwiches dominate the menu. Hear live folk and jazz music most Saturdays. Call ahead for hours.

Il Corvo

Specialized in serving handmade pasta, Il Corvo is located in downtown Seattle; and is highly recommended by the foodies of this neighborhood. Nothing fancy, this local pasta place has a simple ambiance; and seems to be perfect for those casual meals with friends or family. Ravioli stuffed with kale and parmesan puree, maccheroni alla bolognese and pot head terrine are some of the mouth-watering dishes on their menu. Freshly made pasta and locally produced veggies and meat are combined with authentic herbs and spices, to give the food a beautiful texture and aroma.

The friendly staff greets you with a warmth, akin to family and have you try their various sweet offerings. Scrumptious pastries and a decadent range of quiches will drive away the hunger pains and make for a quick bite to eat. Munch on these heavenly desserts and forget your worries for a short while.

Pike Place Chowder

As part of your visit to Pike Place Market, be sure to grab a cup of chowder from this spot, it's an obligatory Seattle stop. This multiple award-winning seafood joint is a must-visit for any lover of seafood, chowder or local Seattle flavor. Enjoy the energy of fellow market-goers bustling by as you taste different concoctions of chowder, soups and seafood. Diners here have described their eating experiences here as "emotionally moving," so be prepared for a transcendent experience. The first thing you will notice is the giant line, but don't fret, it moves rather quickly. If you want to capture the essence of Seattle in one meal, this wouldn't be a bad choice.

Paseo Caribbean Restaurant

Your first reaction to Paseo Caribbean Restaurant will be wonderment as to how can a restaurant this popular can be this small. Your first glance at the menu may reinforce that reaction. Don't be fooled, though, this is one of the best restaurants in town. Each of the dishes, sandwiches and some grilled dishes, are done well. The garlic prawns are particularly flavorful, and the grilled pork will surely satiate your taste buds. The Midnight Cuban sandwich is a hot favorite among locals, who will vouch for this pork sandwich filled with a generous amount of mayonnaise and garnished with cilantro. Since the compact space is the restaurant's only drawback, make sure you get there early to get a table or simply grab some takeout.
