Hongqiao International Airport

Hongqiao International Airport has been superceded by Pudong with most international airlines now departing from the latter, newer facility. Although slightly down at heel, Hongqiao is fairly efficient and convenient and can easily be accessed from the central business district. The airport has separate arrival and departure buildings in one terminal. It is spread over two levels with the domestic arrivals and departures on the top floor, and international arrivals and departures on the ground floor. All of the signs and announcements at the airport are in English and Chinese. The airport is a half-hour car journey from the centre of Shanghai. Shuttle buses are available to all the major hotels and taxis are plentiful and cheap. There is only one terminal at Hongqiao. The airport has a Chinese restaurant and a café serving fast food. Prices, routes, times and visas are vulnerable to change without warning in China. It is worth carefully checking details with your travel agent before departure. Major domestic and some international airlines are serviced.
