"Church with a Leaning Spire"

Church of St Mary and All Saints dates back to the 14th Century. Church of St Mary and All Saints is a prominent landmark in Chesterfield and famed for its leaning and twisted spire. This twisted spire is considered to be an architectural spectacle since it gave a new name to the church, 'Crooked Spire.' This spire was built joining the tower dating from the 14th Century. Originally built straight, the spire may have become twisted owing to the abundant green timber used in its construction. Church of St Mary and All Saints is designated as a Grade I listed structure by the English Heritage.
