"Ruinous and Intriguing"
The dilapidated and historic Old Holy Trinity Church located in the village of Wentworth dates back to at least the 12th Century and is today designated by English Heritage as a Grade II listed building. It is a roofless nave standing between a large 17th-century chancel and a truncated west tower. The core of the church is built of rubble sandstone, and the tower of ashlar. It was converted to a mausoleum in 1877 after a new church was commissioned and today only the chancel and north chapel remain intact. No longer in regular use, the church is cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust.
