The United States Civil War was one of the darkest periods of American history. Despite the devastation it wrought upon the nation, there were men who stood out as heroes. One such was Confederate soldier Sam Davis, captured by the Union army and then killed because he would not reveal military secrets. His childhood home reveals what life was like in the early 1800's.
