"Walking Through the Past"
The Vestibul is a large, rectangular building that overlooks the Peristil, the main courtyard of Diocletian's Palace, next to the cathedral and bell tower. It is a magnificent entrance into what is left of the Emperor's quarters. Today, you can pass right through and gaze up through the large circular opening in the curved ceiling. You can only imagine how the room was decorated for the Emperor. The building is yet another testament to Roman architecture and ingenuity. Throughout the year the Vestibul acts as a dramatic backdrop for plays, concerts, and festivals.
