Strasbourg Astronomical Clock
"Spectacular Time Piece"
Ornate and ancient, the Strasbourg Astronomical Clock is located within the suitably grand walls of Cathédrale Notre-Dame. The clock was third to be installed at the cathedral in the 19th Century, after the first and second stopped working. The clock has a stunning design and astronomical accuracy as it shows the sun and moon position, has automata, a planetary dial, a perpetual calendar and shows lunar and solar eclipse. A small replica of it was produced by Richard Smith in 1887 and is now on display at the Powerhouse Museum in Australia.
