The Ogof Ffynnon Ddu is a historical cave located in the Upper Swansea Valley of Southern Wales. The name of the cave can be translated to Cave of the Black Spring, in English. With a depth of 308 meters (1,010 feet) and spans across a length of 50 kilometers (31 miles). One of the deepest caves of Britain, it was notified in 1946 by Peter Harvey and Ian Nixon. The cave is noted for the maze-like contours and its splendid steam passage. The cave is home to many wildlife species which include the cave shrimps, pale blanched trout and some other rare fauna. Many flora species also thrive on the valley above the cave system.
