Established by an independent wine merchant in Sydney is The Wine Library. The place is basically a wine bar with exquisite wines from across the globe all culminated at one place. Its collection of wine is impeccable and one of the greatest in Australia. They also offer an extensive food menu of everything that goes well with wine. So if you are a wine connoisseur, this is the place you must visit when you are in Sydney.
Don't let this café's vegetarian status put you off; Yullis is a meat-free experience that carnivores can really sink their teeth into. Right on the busy part of Crown Street, it's a café by day and restaurant and wine bar by night, with a menu based around tasty share plates and mains that are great for any time of day. Pass around a plate of goat cheese and artichoke arancini or keep the pan-fried polenta with braised mushrooms and fennel all to yourself. Dessert here is a must too, with options like the rather decadent white Belgian chocolate caramel slice served with ice cream.
The Australian Hotel is a very stylish hotel and bar, renowned for offering gourmet lagers and a huge selection of Australian beers most notably Scharer's Lager and Burragorang Brock, both made with natural ingredients. The claim is that the natural ingredients and manufacturing process mean no hang over. Smart and stylish the clientele is a mixture of tourists and locals who come here to enjoy the historical Rocks atmosphere and also the tasty pub food.
The battle at hand is not Napoleonic but much closer to home; which is Sydney's longest-established pub? The Lord Nelson or the Hero? Debate has raged for years, but no one is about to surrender this one. The Hero is steeped in history so palpable you can almost hear the bawdy cries of the drunken sailors who drank here back in the mid-nineteenth century reverberating off the sandstone walls. The Hero is a living part of Australia's heritage and a great place for a cold beer and a game of two up. Food served includes fish, meat and vegetable dishes.
Before Japanese food was packed into bento boxes and squished into sushi rolls, it was an elegant and upmarket dining experience. And that's just where the owners of Toko Restaurant & Bar aim to keep it. In their Crown Street dining space, they have opted for a flashy wood-paneled fit out, with a room that incorporates communal tables, an open kitchen and a cocktail bar. The menu itself is varied, with diners able to select from small plates designed to share, sushi and tempura from the kitchen, or meat cooked on the robata grill as they watch.
Love, Tilly Devine is a wine bar in Darlinghurst which was named after a notorious madame from Sydney's past. The bar itself is a bit hidden and difficult to find, but once you find it you'll be glad you put in the effort. Although the bar is small, it rarely feels cramped and instead gives off more of a cozy feeling. The wine selection, as is to be expected, is excellent, and the food offerings are equally delectable, sophisticated bar snacks.
