Monasteries were very common during the Middle Ages and among them the Dominican Order was the most illustrated. One such abbey was in Tangermünde. The Ruine Dominikanerkloster was established in 1434 and though much is not known about it, it was dissolved during the Reformation. Now only ruins remain after centuries of neglect.
