Schloss Weitra is a medieval castle which was built in the 13th Century. Due to several sieges, the castle was severely damaged and underwent renovations over the years. The castle which stands today is a beautiful Renaissance structure which resulted from extensive reconstruction in the 16th Century. Schloss Weitra now houses five museums and several spaces for events. The Garrison Ball, which is an annual tradition of the city is also held here every year.
