"Jaffa Landmark"
The clock tower stands in the middle of what is now the traffic heavy Yefet street, at the entrance, as it were, to Jaffa, the ancient city to which modern Tel Aviv is anchored. The tower was built in 1906 to mark the 25th anniversary of the accession of the Turkish Sultan Abdul Hamid II. It is similar to other towers built at the same time for this same purpose in Jerusalem and Acco.
