River Road African American Museum was inaugurated in 1994 in Donaldsonville, LA. The museum focuses on displaying the history of African Americans in Louisiana, which was earlier a plantation area. The museum was registered under the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the sites of the Louisiana African American Heritage Trail.
