by Reggaeman

"Historic Buddhist Temple"

Sengaku-ji Temple situated in Minato is your serene getaway in the otherwise noisy and busy Tokyo. This temple is one of the most famous ones in the entire country and is very important in the context of Japan's history. This historical temple is house to graves of the brave 47 ronins and their master Asano Naganori. It is in the gardens of this very temple that the 47 ronins bought the head of evil courtier Kira Yoshinaka to the grave of Asano to avenge the death of their leader. Asano Naganori was ordered by the shogunate to commit ritual suicide for drawing his blade on Kira Yoshinaka in the Edo Castle. After avenging Asano's death the 47 ronins met with the same fate as their leader's and were ordered to commit ritual suicide. Apart from the graves of the ronins and their leader this temple is known for its spiritual ambience. Hundreds of Buddhist followers visit this temple daily to offer their prayers and seek blessings from Lord Buddha.
