"Bridge Devoted to Pedestrians Only"

Sakurabashi Bridge, connecting two segments of Sumida Park over the river Sumida, has been standing proudly since its construction in the late 19th Century. Vehicles are not allowed at this bridge as it is solely dedicated to the pedestrians. Its structure resembles an elongated 'X' and the design and architecture of this bridge has won a Tanaka Award from Japan Society of Civil Engineers in 1989. At night, Sakurabashi is covered in lights, making it an exceptional sight.
