"Simple, Good Japanese Food"
By 7pm on most nights it's hard to get a seat at Agawa, a popular, local, Sangenjaya eatery. Chef Agawa, for whom the place is named, serves up simple, familiar, sometimes interesting and always generous portions to his regulars, who come to enjoy his delicious, modestly priced food in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. His regular menu includes traditional Japanese favorites such as yakitori, nabe, rice balls and sashimi, but each day also brings new, special additions for his patrons to indulge in. With seating for only a handful of people, reservations are recommended, unless you don't mind the hit-and-miss possibilities of a more late-night attempt. -Stephen Lebovits
