Odaiba

A fine example of Japanese planning and ingenuity, Odaiba is an artificial island located on the Tokyo Bay. The name 'Odaiba' finds its origins in the network of six artificial islands which were built in 1853 by Egawa Hidetatsu to protect the city of Edo, former name of Tokyo, from the American Commodore Matthew Perry, whose fleet of Black Ships posed an imminent threat. In modern times, this island has become a major attraction for leisure and entertainment, withstanding the economic collapse of Japan and other adversities. Today, Odaiba is home to a range of shopping, dining, and entertainment destinations, also being home to a replica of the Statue of Liberty, which sits gloriously against the backdrop of the Rainbow Bridge.

Queen's Square

Queen's Square is another of Yokohama's modern success stories. Opened in 1996, it is almost a city in itself, combining business and commercial zones with cultural facilities. Altogether, it has a total floor space of about 500,000 sq. m. and houses specialty shops, offices, restaurants, a concert hall (the Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall), and the 485-room Pan-Pacific Hotel Yokohama. In the center of this huge complex there is an atrium that starts at B3 and goes up to the 5F. Take a walk along the Queen Mall, a huge shop and restaurant-lined passageway that runs right through Queen's Square linking the Landmark Plaza with the Pacifico Yokohama. If you do not want to do any shopping, stop by for a break in one of the many restaurants or cafes.

Hiroki

Confronted by a 1953 MG in the entranceway and a classic Harley within the store, you get the impression that the days when leather and furs were king are not gone. Along with the usual plethora of jackets, pants and shirts you can also find vests, bags, wallets and hats. Going back even further in time there is an old west corner devoted to cowboy apparel along with North American Indian jewelry and crafts. Be sure to check out the polar bear skin at the back!

Fujiya Camera

Fujiya Camera has been in the photography business for over 70 years, garnering a great Tokyo-wide reputation for their excellent and friendly service and selection. Occupying two floors with Nikon above and Canon below, they make buying and selling equipment simple and easy. You can trade in your old gear and receive cash plus credit towards your next purchase. Usually displaying a large variety of used gear, Fujiya further offers a 6-month warranty on most used items, and you can check availability online daily. Located on a small lane shared by several other used gear shops, there are always other enthusiasts milling about, so check it out if you can!

Paul Smith Space

Established designer, Paul Smith, brings all of his collections into one, fantastically designed building in Aoyama. With his trademark mix of modernity and winking vintage, he uses the four-story space to showcase his creative vision. In the basement, you can browse through a collection of design and art books and magazines, gathered by Smith himself; otherwise, enjoy the outside terrace, another part of a relaxing, chilled-out shopping experience. Closed on Wednesdays.

Disney Store

The way Disneyland is more than just an amusement park, Toy Story is more than just a cartoon, and Johnny Depp is more than just a pirate, The Disney Store in Shibuya is more than just a Disney Store. It is a colossal attraction in the heart of Shibuya. Inside, you'll find character meet-and-greets, interactive activities, fine art exhibitions, and the wide selection of toys and memorabilia one would expect. The entrance alone is a sight to behold, with the facade of a cartoon castle. Visitors will find surprises like displays featuring Gepetto's workshop, complete with Pinocchio, Peter Pan's shadow hovering over Wendy's vanity table, and a spiral staircase leading up to the stars.
