by SimonP

"Oldest Catholic church in Toronto"

The oldest Catholic cemetery in Toronto, St. Micheal's Cemetery (Toronto) is a historic cemetery established in 1855. The cemetery is surrounded by homes and stores and is accessible only by an alleyway. It was established when the St. Paul's Cemetery had space issues. The 29,000 buried here are mostly the working class Irish Canadians. The best feature of this cemetery is the octagonal mortuary vault in the center of the cemetery.
