Because San Daniele is really one of the world capitals of raw prosciutto, which thanks to the ideal climate here, has been produced since the time of the Celts. Today, every year, something like 2,000,000 prosciutto hams destined for the five continents are produced in over 26 establishments, which adhere to a consortium recognized by the European Union. The cathedral and Guarneriana library are also worth a visit, one of the oldest public libraries in Italy. This trip will not disappoint you although it will take you an hour or so by car along the A4 motorway heading for Udine - simply follow the signposts.
