It is open until late in the evening and it is the perfect place to go for a snack after going to the cinema or theatre. Although the decor is a little dated, it is cozy and slightly rustic giving it a friendly atmosphere. There are around 45 covers. The shop has offered home delivery for some time, guaranteeing the quick delivery of hot food and drink anywhere in the city. Buffet Birreria Rudy is settled in the center of Trieste, just a few steps away from Piazza Oberdan. The interior mirrors a typical Bavarian pub, with wooden furniture and a refined style. This place is very attentive to the quality of its beers, many of which come from Germany: you can find pale ales, double malted beer or stouts. Furthermore, Buffet Birreria Rudy easily matches all these different beers with typical dishes of the Triestine tradition; for example, the Vienna, or sausage with sauerkraut. Often, in this friendly pub, you can listen to live rock music, giving the pub a real Oktoberfest atmosphere.
One of the city's most popular jazz clubs, Round Midnight evokes a sense of nostalgia with its classic decor and fabulous live music. Quaint, dimly-lit and cozy, this place has all the makings of a great venue, where patrons get up close and personal with the performers. While Jazz might be its specialty, this is also the venue for bands across genres including rock and hip hop. Expect to get your money's worth at this club, with great music and fine drinks that will certainly have you coming back for more.
Away from the main road, the big green sign of Old London stands out. After having entered the double glass doors you will come into this new venue where great attention has been paid to detail. Everything, from the bar to the carpets, from the sofas to the London signs, to the old Guinness adds, gives off an olde Anglo-Saxon air. The atmosphere is really warm and relaxing, the pub is very in vogue at the weekend and is almost always full; however, there is a rapid turnover of clientèle. Particularly suited for those wanting to spend an intimate evening in front of the chimney place. When sporting events are on, you can watch on the screen in the lounge. There is seating for 60. As far as the food is concerned hot dishes are served as well as filled rolls and you can choose from 11 different types of draft beers and seven bottled.
This must be the most luxurious, as well as the oldest cafe in Trieste. Opened in 1825, in what was once called Piazza dei Negozianti, Caffè Tommaseo is a favorite with artists and intellectuals and continues to host cultural events, meetings and press conferences. It is a bright place with splendid stucco decorations that date back to the early 20th Century. Caffè Tommaseo offers a vast choice of tea and good sandwiches and desserts, as well as excellent coffee and hot chocolate.
One of the places in town for cocktails, Urbanis is a chic bar with a bit of rustic elements and coziness to it. A favorite among the hip crowd, it also holds DJ nights during the weekends. Mickey Mouse owes its fame to the simple fact that it is opposite the prestigious College of the United World, an international school with students from over 70 nations. It is an ideal place to have breakfast or an evening meal, with a host of sandwiches and toasts on offer and there is a multi-ethnic and multilingual atmosphere here. Quiet during the week, it livens up here at the weekend.
This is a rather small place, seating about 60, which is well looked after and is in the center of the city. It has a lovely, dark wood balcony and dim lighting. Excellent for an evening drink after the cinema, as it is near all the main cinemas in Trieste. Good beers and sandwiches with main meals available at lunchtime, the only downside is the slightly higher than normal prices.
This is another restaurant which is slightly difficult to find; asking locals along the route is a good idea as this place is famous throughout the area. Taverna Cigui is hidden in the enchanting hills near Muggia, on the Slovenian border. It offers extremely fresh fish from Istria, including sea bream and scampi as well as ham and local black truffles which are aged at the inn itself. Taverna Cigui also serves soups, gnocchi and omelets. There is a good choice of mainly local wines to complement your food! Taverna Ciugi also has 6 rooms that are available at budget prices.

Near the city center, this place serves highly imaginative food in a fun, original atmosphere. It is impossible to predict the menu, as it changes from day to day, ranging from an Irish day, which includes beer and starters, to a week long Portuguese theme, or an African dinner, as well as times when they concentrate on Arab and Latin food, amongst others. Every Wednesday night, the best ethnic DJs in the area play ethnic music and every Thursday is a different kind of fun evening.
