Salina Turda

Salina Turda boasts of 121.9 meters (400 feet) of cavernous beauty, and is better known for its erstwhile salt mine identity before it closed down in 1932. In 1992, Salina Turda re-opened as an enchanting amusement park. The saline residue exists even today on its subterranean walls, as do seemingly endless tunnels that are coated with thick deposits. Today, this grand mine operates as a multi-faceted attraction, with futuristic displays and installations that look like otherworldly phenomena - replete with an amphitheater, a bowling alley, a giant underground Ferris wheel and paddle and row boats. For further amusement and just in case you itch to play golf while you're here, there is also a mini golf-course. Throw in a ping-pong court and the Franz Josef Gallery, and you have yourself a bizarre yet oddly engaging attraction.
