Hrad Střekov

Perched atop a hill by the river Elbe, Hrad Střekov was once a defensive stronghold that was built to protect and safeguard the trade route from Czechoslovakia to Germany. Its strategic location made it subject to numerous sieges and battles during the Seven Years' War, which caused heavy damage to the structure, subsequently leading to it being abandoned in the 18th-century. Its architecture is one of its main talking points and features an arched bridge that connects both ends of the fortress, providing a natural moating system to its peripheries. The castle is a popular tourist attraction, known for its splendid views of the breathtakingly beautiful Elbe Valley and the tranquil waters of the Elbe River.
