Sacile

by Dani 7C3

"Architectural Beauties"

Nestled besides the River Livenza, Sacile is also called the "Garden of the Serenissima" for its beautiful palaces dotting the river bank. With a history dating back to the 7th Century, it is a great place to explore architectural wonders of the Renaissance era and is the home of the annual Sagra dei Osei which is among the oldest village festivals in the country. Some of the interesting sites worth visiting are Il Duomo di San Nicolò (Cathedral of St. Nicholas), La Chiesa di San Gregorio (Church of St. Gregory), La Chiesa di Santa Maria della Pietà (Church of Santa Maria della Pietà) and Il Palazzo Ragazzoni (Palace Ragazzoni). This quaint town has a network of alleys and bridges which makes it a nice spot for strolling.
