"A Charming Public Square"

Franziskanerplatz is a historic square that lies at the heart of Inner City Vienna, and is just a short walk away from the famed Stefansplatz. The square derives its name from the 17th-century, Renaissance style Franciscan Church that was built here. Featuring a mix of Gothic and Baroque architectural elements, the church still attracts much attention from visitors and tourists. The square is home to and surrounded by a few elegant restaurants, however the most popular remains the Kleine Cafe that offers outdoor seating at the square during the summer months. There are also a few shops, including the Die vermischte Warenhandlung which offers a selection of collectibles and accessories.
