Reserva de la Biosfera Pantanos de Centla

Cradled in the recesses of southern Mexico, this incredibly diverse reserve is a wonderland for the nature enthusiast. Here is where sun-dappled swathes of lush greens are lovingly contrasted by a tapestry of myriad water bodies. Moistened by the lower strands of the mighty Usumacinta and Grijalva Rivers, this expansive reserve is riddled with a melange of ecosystems. Swaying mangroves and sun-bleached savanna find respite in serene lakes and marshes while wetlands and drapes of verdant woodland serve as brilliant harbors for crocodiles, tapirs, howler monkeys, jaguars, and several other wild creatures. Along the curve of the Grijalva River is the visitor center named Centro de Interpretación Uyotot-Ja, whereas a lofty look-out tower lords over the stunning, priceless embrace of the rivers.
